MUSIC

MUSIC

At CSA, all students will experience ensemble performances and learn to play recorder and percussion instruments, and explore musical customs from around the world. At the Pre-K level, instilling a love of music in the students through movement and basic instrumental practice assures that students are excited to explore music in more sophisticated ways as they grow older. In kindergarten, students explore musical games, rhythmic notation, singing as a group, and song tales. In first grade, students incorporate dynamics and tempo into their singing and instrument play, and combine rhythmic notation and solfege in their musical games. In second grade, students learn ensemble skills through singing in rounds, group and partner dancing, instrument play and basic interpretation of notes and rhythms. When students reach third grade, they combine the multitude of skills learned since Pre-K in vocal and instrumental performance during each class. Middle school students continue to expand their ensemble skills by participating in a range of performance activities on and off campus.
